"Modestly produced, well-crafted songs which are hard to characterize as rock, pop or jazz. Vic Godard's voice is not as strong and confident as on the later album Songs For Sale (when is that coming out on CD???), but that's part of this album's quiet charm. An extremely cool addition to every non-conformist's collection"
A genuine lost classic

"While the fans were waiting for a Subway Sect punk album, it was classic Godard to come up with this French pop style version of the songs the Sect had been performing for a couple of years. His manager having sacked the rest of the Sect, Vic was forced into using a brand new, untested studio (but it was cheap!) with a motley selection of musician friends, all of whom were unpaid. Despite everything, the results were marvellous. Vic was reasonably happy and so was Rhodes who, without Vic's knowledge, pocketed the rather large advance."
