"This one falls in the vein of White Pepper and Chocolate and Cheese...Ween weirdness done with expert studio craftsmanship. They even throw in another dick song just to show they still suffer the effects of octopermanentia (intellectually stuck in the eighth grade). Get this one, White Pepper, Chocolate and Cheese, and, for a great example of their humble lo-fi 4-track beginnings, Pure Guava (pure fun weirdness and hilarity!). How these guys plagiarize the rule book, throw out the rule book, then re-write the rule book and go for pop songs simultaneously weird and well-crafted that get stuck in your head is anyone's guess. Brilliant."
Amazing monster of an album

"I consider Ween's The Mollusk their best album and creative peak to date. It has the perfect blend of everything Ween is about - the brown sound weirdness, the incredible melodies, humor, amazing guitar playing, and songs that are just catchy as hell. There's not a bad track on here. My favorite songs include The Mollusk, Johnny On The Spot, Mutilated Lips, The Golden Eel, Buckingham Green, Blarney Stone, and Ocean Man."

"This review is for the new vinyl release of The Mollusk by Plain Recordings. I will not bother to give a review on the album itself because many people have done it better justice than I ever could.
If you are a fan of the album like me, I will give three reasons to get it on vinyl.
1. It is audiophile-quality 180 gram vinyl. I am pretty sure the original vinyl pressing was 120 or 140 gram. Some say the sound is better on 180 gram, but at the least it is less susceptible to warping.
2. Right now, it costs less than 20 bucks. For the original 120-140 gram pressings of The Mollusk, I have seen examples fetching as much as 400 bucks!
3. It is pressed on colored vinyl. I can't say that all of them are on colored vinyl, but my copy is. It is a marbled sea green color which is a nice touch considering the nautical theme of the album.
It goes without saying that vinyl sounds better than CD. My goal is not to convince you of this. It's only to give you a review of this specific pressing of this specific album. It's also not to convince you of how amazing this album is. Some like Ween, some don't. I'm talking mainly to the Ween fans who already know the album. For those of you who are interested in the album, I suggest listening to it on iTunes or last.fm first.
