"I love this CD. I just got it yesterday. I just recently became aware of Virginia O'Brien. I am 25 and missed the hayday of MGM Musicals. It is hard to find recorded music from that era for some of the lesser known stars. Virginia is one of my favorites and it is fate that this recording was re released just when I wanted it. The bonus Tracks are great. The recording could be clearer but that is my only complaint. Did I mention that I love this CD? Some of my favorite selections are Solome, It's A Great Big World and Say That We're Sweethearts Again. I would recomend it to any one who loves great musicals, great composers and great songs."
I don't think so

"Loving the great Virginia O'Brien of the 1940s, I was delighted to see that it was still possible to buy her recordings. Unfortunately, what fell through my letter box was a nightclub performance given by a voice in rags, and interfered with by excessive patter. We are given a few tracks recorded in 1940 when she really was fabulous, but since then O'briens voice has dropped a good octave and her pitch is a shambles. She's a likable person and I honor the memory of the wonderful singer she used to be.Perhaps her stage presence is enough to make one forget her voice. On a CD? No. No."
Not a good place to start

"I absolutely adore Virginia O'Brien, but this CD isn't for anybody but die-hard completists like myself. And anyway, the best thing about Virginia is seeing her facial expressions. I'm doing my best to collect all her film songs on video. But if you want to hear her singing in her prime - hunt for her numerous Old Time Radio appearances on "Command Performance" - many are available for download from OTR sites via FTP."
Wonderful moments with a great entertainer

"Virginia O`brien, was a sensational MGM star. Her suporting parts in movies like HARVEY GIRLS, are unforgatable, and very often she stops and steals the show. A nice girl with nice looks and a very personal voice, she indeed is a symbol of those golden days. This cd takes you back to this era while she sings and tells stories of those movies and their people. So, just seat back and enjoy !"
