Album DescriptionThe 16th of October would have been the 80th birthday of composer/arranger/bandleader/producer Bert Kaempfert. Born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1923, Kaempfert not only discovered the Beatles, but wrote many standards that became world-wide hits, such as "Strangers In The Night", "African Beat", "Danke Schoen", "A Swingin' Safari", and "Moon Over Naples" better known as Spanish Eyes. To celebrate the anniversary we have combined 24 versions of "Spanish Eyes", including German, Croatian, and Italian versions. The booklet will also trace the intriguing history of the song, originally written for the German singer Freddy Quinn, but eventually made into a worldwide smash hit by Al Martino.
