Wonderful soundtrack from the hit movie. Stands on its own as a great collection. Includes: In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning (Carly Simon); Stardust (Nat King Cole); When I Fall in Love (Celine Dionne); A Wink and a Smile (Harry Connick, Jr); As Time Goes By and Make Someone Happy (Jimmy Durante); A Kiss to Build A Dream On (Louis Armstrong); and others.

I like the song that Celine Dion does. However, if you only like that one song you should wait to see if it is on another Greatest Hits Album.

"If there was ever a soundtrack that fits a movie perfectly (notwithstanding some of John Williams'work) this has to be it. How can I begin to explain the multitude of feelings in this Cd? Just play "Stardust", and you can see Tom Hanks' character standing on his porch watching the fireworks over the Seattle bay, remembering his wife. Listen to the lyrics and you'll understand what I mean: "...the lonely nights, dreaming of a song; the nightingale, tells a fairytale, and I am once again with you..." Just a sample of how the emotion reaches your soul and stays there. Everytime you listen to this CD you'll find yourself within the music, and falling in love again. Even the instrumental track is a touching, simple piece. All in all, an excellent selection of songs - ByeBye Blackbird, Stardust, When I fall in Love, they're all there for a reason. Listen and learn why."

"What is not to love about this soundtrack? Jimmy Durante's unique voice is so incredible - and luckily, you can hear it twice (As Time Goes By & Make Someone Happy) - an added bonus for any Durante fans! Other greats include Louis Armstrong (A Kiss To Build a Dream On), Nat King Cole (Stradust), Joe Cocker (Bye, Bye Blackbird), the incredible Tammy Wynette (Stand By Your Man) and Celine Dion with Clive Griffin (When I Fall In Love). But in my "expert opinion", the best song on the entire CD is Wink and a Smile by Harry Connick Jr.! Connick's voice and incredible piano playing give the song an upbeat feeling! I LOVE IT! I recommend this soundtrack to anyone - I am only 17 years old and love every single song - even though some of them were before my time! Enjoy this awesome CD!"

"Is it possible to feel nostalgic from songs that were mostly popular before you were born or aware of music!? If it is possible, then this soundtrack makes it happen.Such lovely, winsome, romantic and even some sad songs. I know the movie well and as I listen to this album I can often see the scene it pertains to in my mind's eye. For me, this soundtrack brings back the feeling of the movie ... which is equal parts sad, hopeful and sweet. The song 'Stardust' by Nat King Cole stops me in my tracks and causes me to become very quiet and thoughtful.'Back in the Saddle Again' by Gene Autry brings a smile to my face as I envision Tom Hanks making that call to Victoria (the hyena)! Cute scene. 'Makin' Whoopee' is also a cute song that makes me smile because I remember the scene in the movie. Funny. One of my favorite songs is 'A Wink and a Smile'. Incredibly performed by Harry Connick Jr.In summary, really terrific, light-hearted soundtrack. Even if you are unfamiliar with the movie, this album is worth owning."
"Moonlight And Love Songs Are Never Out Of Date"

""You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss
A sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by
And when two lovers woo
They still say "I love you"
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by
Moonlight and love songs never out of date..."
True to the lyrics of the first track, "As Time Goes By," moonlight and love songs are never out of date. They are eternal. They are endless. And they never go out of style. This delightful soundtrack consists of twelve beautiful and timeless love songs to warm the heart as interpreted by various talented artists.
The last track is the cream of the crop, "When I Fall In Love," a compositon by Victor Young and Edward Heyman. Celine Dion and Clive Griffin rendered this duet beautifully. This classic has been recorded and performed by numerous singers and musicians but I must admit that this is one of the best versions I've ever heard. This timeless song is one of my all-time favorites and also my wedding "first dance" song. Celine and Clive's great voices blended perfectly and the arrangement by Jeremy Lubbock is simply marvelous. This is one gem of a song.
"When I fall in love, it will be forever
or I'll never fall in love
In a restless world like this is
love has ended before it's begun
And too many moonlight kisses
seem to cool in the warmth of the sun
If I give my heart, it will be completely
or I'll never give my heart
And the moment I can feel that
You feel that way too
Is when I fall in love with you..."
Other noteworthy tracks are Hoagy Carmichael/Mitchell Parish's ultimate love song of all-time, "Stardust," "An Affair To Remember," "A Kiss To Build A Dream On," "A Wink And A Smile," "As Time Goes By" and "In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning."
According to Nora Ephron, Soundtrack Executive Producer: "words and music are unbeatable combination. Put them together and you get love." She's absolutely right and I agree with her. Music is the universal language of the soul. As long as there's music, there will always be love.
I highly recommend this CD. You will enjoy listening to it and will surely be a nice addition to your collection of original motion picture soundtracks.
