The 1950s Little Richard sound

"While most of these 25 tracks were released, Little Richard was ot Oakwood Collge studying the Bible and Business. I doubt many of these numbers were even played on the bigger stations and I doubt Richard Penniman would have been moved to return to R & R after hearing them, if he tuned into Pop radio at the time. There are many great artists herein, wailing over great musicianship, including Richard's regular studio band. And the sound is fine on all 25!
Standouts by Etta James, Young Jesse, Ike & Tina Turner, Joe Tex (as Little Booker), Don Covay (as Pretty Boy), and track #25, by The World Famous Upsetters (actually the man himself, incognito, fresh from a successful tour of Europe with four dudes from Liverpool, who had a modest hit with something called "Love Me Do"...they were thrilled to meet their idol and also to include a new drummer).
Wonderful notes with color shots of record labels, all kinds of detail."
