"(I can't believe I'm writing the first review for this!)The romance of Tristan and Isuelt/Isolde is unquestionably one of the most beautiful and tragic of all the medieval legends, and this is a must-have CD for fans of the Boston Camerata and early music in general. This is not -- repeat NOT! -- anything at all like Wagner's opera. The Boston Camerata has created a sort of medieval "mini-opera" by weaving together early music from both German and French traditions (with a little Latin thrown in from the "Carmina Burana"). The vocal and instrumental performances are flawless, ethereal, heartrending, tender and muscular as the story demands. Fans of the group "Dead Can Dance" will recognize a couple of snippets "borrowed" from this CD for their own "Aion", and that's high praise indeed.Buy this CD, and you will never regret it. I've played it for people who don't as a rule get into early music, and -- to paraphrase the commercial -- "nobody doesn't like 'Tristan et Isuelt'!""
