"Since the mid 1980s Toni Tennille has had a successful solo career singing classic standards and performing on the concert scene. "More Than You Know", just released by Varese Records brings her signature style blending very well with saloon songs. Tennille's powerful voice and dramatic interpretation of lyrics has never sounded better.Entire album is a stand out ~ the highlights are "HAPPINESS IS JUST A THING CALLED JOE", "DO NOTHIN' TILL YOU HEAR FROM ME", "GUESS WHO I SAW TODAY?", "CAN'T HELP LOVIN' THAT MAN OF MINE", "I GOT IT BAD AND THAT AIN'T GOOD" and the title song "MORE THAN YOU KNOW ~ features Tennille's smoky alto voice and heartfelt interpretation on all nineteen tracks ~ this album is solid with introspective ballads and blends of a torch style that gives the listener goose bumps...gotta love it!Total Time: 62:05 on 19 Tracks ~ Varese Records 66507 ~ (10/14/2003)"

"This is an example of a wonderful offering by Toni Tennille who shows she can do it all. She's done great with pop and has since done great with big band, jazz and swing. And regarding multiple negative postings below about Toni Tennille:Just to show how poor of an argument the writer of those posts made -- she referenced a jazz writer by the name of Will Friedwald who in his book "Jazz Singing" gives an overview of jazz singing -- but with a decidedly negative edge. Here is what Amazon itself has entered as THE ONE editorial review of that book (this is NOT a user review):Editorial Reviews
From Library Journal
The exhaustive research, useful discographies, and absence of a comparable study on the subject assures this work a place in many collections, but the eccentricities of style and the labyrinth of facts make it, at best, a difficult read and, at worst, annoying. Those with only a casual knowledge of the subject might find themselves lost in the sudden shifts from figure to figure and might also fall easy prey to the author's flippant dismissal of certain performers whose work he holds in undisguised contempt. To become what it pretends to be, this work needs a big infusion of objectivity and an editor with as big an aversion to the parenthetical phrase as Friedwald has to the Ink Spots."
Classic Tennille!

"This is a re-issue of Toni's two big band standards albums from the 1980's. Included are the albums "More Than You Know" (1984) and "All of Me" (1986). This release features the oft-described smokey alto of Toni. She was MEANT to sing these torch songs and conveys much of the emotion inherent in each tune--as if she has profoundly experienced the songs' lyrics. Lush arrangements, jamming solos, and Tennille's dynamic interpretation of songs of the 1930's and 1940's make this a "can't miss" item.Excellent liner notes reveal some little known facts about these dual album projects now combined into one.Very highly recommended."
Better than brilliant!

"I have to vehemently disagree with the boneheads below that can't tell talent from a hole in the wall. Miss Tennille does a brilliant job injecting emotion and vitality into these old standards. Her approach to these classics is somewhat like Rosemary Clooney and Ella Fitzgerald but she injects the powerhouse vocals of a Linda Ronstadt. If you like those three singers and have appreciated Toni's voice in the past you will not be disappointed in this recording."
