Timi Yuro - Live

"The third of the Liberty Records Timi Yuro catalog released on CD from the UK company RPM Records - and the first time this full album has been released in any format. Possibly not the greatest things ever cut by Miss Yuro - that had to be the 'Make The World Go Away' album - with the London recorded 'Something Bad on My Mind' a close second, but a live recording from 1969 never-the-less. Whilst not a good introduction to Timi - along with the other two RPM discs it does cover her time at Liberty (1961-1965 and 1968-1969) and sit comfortably with them. If you have them get this, if not try 'The Lost Voice of Soul' and/or 'The Voice That Got Away' first. I have tried to be un-biased in this review. Personally I have thought Timi Yuro the greatest US white soul singer since 1961, have everything she has ever recorded, and the woman can do no wrong for me."

"Perhaps the rarest of Timis' recordings, it's a real treat to have it released 31 years after the fact. This showcases this remarkable lady with all her raw emotion and soul intact. A must for any Timi Yuro fan! Well worth the wait!"

"Timi is to me the greatest white soul singer ever, but this is not a brilliant album, as some tracks are repeated.
Nevertheless, the power and emotion of her wonderful voice shines through even though she must have sung some of the songs so many times.
This lady could rip your heart out with such emotion as she seems to live a song, not just sing it.
Listen to The Lost Voice Of Soul and The Voice That Got Away to really hear her. Both are compilation albums, but are excellent buys and show what a talent escaped most people"

"At last the complete brilliant "Timi Yuro Live At PJ's" perfectly remastered in such great sound transforming one back in time to that legendary West Hollywood Nightclub in the late sixties with this incomparable singer being the greatest from her generation yet strangely overlooked by the musically bankrupt music industry even though big fans have included music legends such as Dinah Washington, Elvis and Willie Nelson. Timi is in great voice with a cooking "Stax" band and in loose and funky form and oh that enthralling voice...nobody ever came close to those wonderful husky tones and Timi is deeply soulful and wildly passionate all here for the listener to enjoy over and over...tremendous vocals on fire and red hot!!! Between song banter with the audience is fun and enjoyable and a plus here as it makes the whole wondrous experience complete...extensive liner notes including a gorgeous photo collection make this a must-have stellar release! Bravo Timi and we love & miss you! A classic original at the peak of her wondrous powers in front of an adoring crowd who sound like they are having the time of their life and so will you!!! Hopefully next Timi release to compact disc will be the classic "Something Bad On My Mind" lp from 1968 which is one of the greatest female vocal albums ever recorded and is a great work that should have made Timi Yuro a household name and major Superstar but for some strange reason this masterpiece was not promoted and sadly slipped through the cracks but many fans are waiting for this masterwork on CD...superb tour-de-force and every song a standout with great full orchestra arrangements make this stunning collection a must have for anyone who loves a great voice in a magnificent setting...what are they waiting for?"
Bravo!!!

"I have several Timi Yuro CD's but none of them were live performances. When I saw this CD, I couldn't get it into my shopping cart fast enough. I was not disappointed. Not only is the singing great but it enabled me to get a little glimpse into her personality. She was blessed with one of the best voices I've ever heard. It's sad that she never got the acclaim which she so richly deserved. If you're wondering whether to buy or not, I have one word for you...BUY!"
