CD Reviews

An excellent addition to any baroque fan's collection

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD was recently reviewed on the Harmonia Early Music Podcast (it's a great podcast-if you're into this type of music, check it out here [...]), and being a Telemann fan, I had to check it out. I'm so glad I did. Bergen Barokk is a group I'd not been familiar with before but will take notice of from now on.

This CD focuses on works for, as the title suggests, violin, basso continuo, and countertenor. I particularly enjoyed the countertenor voice, and found the CD in the whole to be energetic and uplifting. Like much baroque music, if you pay attention, you can hear wonderful depth, but if you just put it on for background music, like for studying or work, it can just help you be more productive.

Most of the Telemann music I own doesn't feature voice, so this is a nice addition to my collection."
