CD Reviews

Sacred's great
dreamcatchersue | Seattle, WA | 07/22/2002

"I always visit Amazon looking for new music and discovered the Taliesin Orchestra when their Thread Of Time CD was on a top sellers list in the independent music area. I bought that CD on a whim and wasn't disappointed. When I saw they had this new album, Sacred, I had to see if they could make a good album two times in a row. Well, they didn't let me down. Come to find out, this ones different from some of their other stuff becuz they usually do remakes of Enya's stuff, but this one is interpretations of some of my favorite music ever and they do really good with it. I recommend Sacred for music to just listen to or put in the background while at work or somehting else. That's all, just thought I'd share my thoughts."
First 53 seconds of Amazing Grace Chillingly Beautiful
Shipper | 10/25/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I listened to the first track of this CD in the store, and the first 53 seconds were so chillingly, breathlessly beautiful, that I had to take it home. Now days later, I endlessly keep playing repeatedly those 53 seconds. The rest of the song is also nice, yet I myself, didn't like the dissonant, discordant version of it,afterwards, then the last part of it, goes into a more harmonious, soulful version again. The rest of the CD is also inspiring. All in all, very spiritual and soothing."
Unexpected Buy

"I subscribe to Yahoo's LaunchCast service, and on a mood station I made solely for the purpose of listening to relaxing sounds, I heard "Lacrimosa". It caught my ear immediately and I looked the rest of the album up on Amazon. When I saw the track listing, I first thought, "There is no way in blue blazes I'm going to buy this CD," because I normally avoid any variants of Christian music, and with track titles such as "Amazing Grace" and "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring"... Still, I felt the need to give it a chance, so I listened to the samples...

...well, I now sit here writing this review as the CD plays through its second repeat cycle on my computer. You don't need to have an ear for Christian music to enjoy this album thoroughly, though I tend to want to skip both "Amazing Grace" and "The Lord's Prayer" because of the stereotypical pop-gospel discordant vocals present in both. Still, if that's something you enjoy, you have even more reasons to want to buy this album now. Now, I said. I'd stay and persuade you more, but I need to get back to trancing out to this masterpiece."
