"I have seen Susan perform some of these songs. She is never going to be a star performer in a large arena, but her songs are wonderfully personal, and are meant to be listened to quietly. Her songs sound very different live, perhaps even better than on the cd, but, no matter what the media, they show the considerable songwriting talents that she possesses. She can be funny with a song like It's Come To This, a song about taking out a personal ad for a date. She examines aging with If You Could See Me Then, a wonderful song about looking back from old age to a time when "my hair was dark and wavy, when my dimples made them swoon". Loves won and lost are the subjects of Anything For Love, Wait 'Til Tomorrow Comes, and We Can Take Turns. Aunt Miriam's Suitcases is a song about the items left to her by her favorite aunt, the kind of relative who, when every other adult said "no", you could ask her to get a "yes". My favorite track is Faraway Train, a song about being in love, and realizing that you have never really been in love before. "I have never been in love before I could have saved my breath The things I've used to pass for love Now scare me half to death... See that North star? Must be your star by the way that it shines And the one right beside is mine." Susan Piper is a talented, extremely underrated, artist. Pick up this cd and you will feel like you are listening to an old friend bring you up to date on where she has been."

"A few years ago, I heard an audition tape by Susan Piper (long before her album was released) and fell in love with her voice and song-writing style. I was so happy when this album became available. New on the Planet is a wonderful album. Piper's lovely, lyrical voice graces every song with a rich, warm feeling. Her songs reveal a uniquely wise and funny woman. For me, Susan Piper is a gifted song writer with a beautiful voice."
