CD Reviews

Good, but not up to the Group's standards
Reginald D. Garrard | Camilla, GA USA | 12/10/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"When this group emerged a decade ago with the grand "Optimistic," taken from its debut album, their own bar had been raised. "A Musical Fantasy" was the ensemble's second release and it is an above-average production.Musical treasures on the disc are: "Soul Holiday" "O'Holy Night," "Peace on Earth for Everyone," "Dance, Chitlins, Dance" "Why Don't You Believe," and "Merry Christmas To the World.""
The most soulful christmas music!!!!!!

"This cd is the most enjoyable christmas music you could listen to. In fact they had a live stage play back in 1992 and all of the songs had corresponding themes, I wish they would do it again because it was one of the best performances i've ever seen. Every time I hear this cd around the holiday season, it always puts a smile on my face."
Soul Holidays

"Sounds Of Blackness was a group that although they had many hits with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis got lost in the shuffle. Everyone has undoubtedly heard SoB's Optimistic...if not then go get that song immediately somehow someway. This album is more of that type of sound as Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis do most of the production on this album. Sounds Of Blackness are a choir and they sound very terrific on this album and although there are some song interpretations that I have to skip, the majority of the songs are a good listen. My favorite songs include Soul Holidays, Its Christmas Time, and O Holy NIght. Pick up this album is a great way to enjoy the holidays."
