"The actual name of this disc is "Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover". This is one of those after-thought compilations (put out by SONY about 3-4 months after they released her "Best Of" CD) that was used in special promotions at record stores for special holidays. [i.e. this disc would probably be found in a Valentine's Day "Lovers Music" bin, during that particular time frame.] Here's your track list:
1. Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover
2. I Want You (single version)
3. Saviour Child4. Carry Me
5. Right Beside You (classic club mix)
6. Don't Don't Tell Me No
7. Let Me Love You Up
8. Mr. Tugboat Hello
9. True Romance
10. Only Love (the ballad of sleeping beauty) (acoustic version)
The 3 mixes on this compilation are what make it special. The acoustic version of "Only Love" is a rare treat, until now only found on promo & on the Japanese cd single. Also, this compilation includes the track "Don't Don't Tell Me No" which was a European single release, but NOT included on the "Best Of" remastered CD. Be aware that this disc does NOT include one of her biggest hits "As I Lay Me Down". Well worth the LOW price & a nice compilation for die-hard fans."
Three rare tracks for diehard fans and collectors!

"Normally, most budget CDs just feature selections from previously released albums, which makes most of them useless to collectors and fans.
This one is different. It features the radio mix of "I Want You", the acoustic version of "Only Love" and the club mix of "Right Beside You"- all tracks which you'd otherwise need to track down copies of CD maxi singles in order to get.
This CD should be a role model for Sony to follow any time they release a greatest hits or budget CD- fans want rarities, so the more rare back catalogue items (remixes, live versions, alternate takes, b-sides) you put on a hits collection, the more fans will be interested in buying them.
Still, it would be really cool if Sony went all out one of these days and had Junior Vasquez and Hex Hector remix 10 of Sophie's best tracks for a full fledged remix album, but I am so happy they released this.
I bought this budget CD in addition to her "Best Of" and "Wilderness" and I also have her "Timbre" and "Whaler" and "Tongues And Tails" CD.
I wish they'd release something like this of rare Spin Doctors stuff, the tracks from the CD singles, not from Homebelly Groove, but the really rare stuff or even the demos and sessions.
Anyway- back to Sophie B Hawkins- she is such an amazing artist, I reccomend anyone who hasn't heard her music before- you can buy this CD as a great starter- and then if you like it, and buy the albums, you'll still be glad you got this CD because it has those three alternate versions which aren't on the albums.
Definitely worthwhile for fans and for new listeners alike.
