"Hanna Richardson & Phil Flanigan are one of mainstream jazz's great undiscovered duos-- or at least they deserve one heck of a lot more attention IMO. This is their
3d, and another great one. HR has a lovely burnished tone & straight ahead style, grace, & a touch of wit, and some interesting non fussy variety in subtle ways. (As liner notes say, "she refuses to distort words in the name of improvisation. . . she imbues each song with joy and warmth."). Great support & inventive arrangements from Phil & the other virtuoso musicians, & what a nice treat to hear violin legend Johnny Frigo-- esp. on those songs he co-wrote ("Detour Ahead," & one I love-- "I Told Ya I Love Ya, Now Get Out"). If you like Rebecca Kilgore, Janet Seidel, or classic pop/jazz singers like Maxine Sullivan, Peggy Lee or Doris Day (her jazz side esp.), you'll like Hanna IMO."
This is a MUST HAVE cd for your collection............WOW!!!

"Hanna has that special sound and emotion in her singing that few have these days. You also have the added treat of her husband, Phil, on bass leading the outstanding back-up group here. If you are looking for that wonderful and swinging sound, this the cd to buy. These are the folks to keep your eye on in the future; they have what it takes!!! I, for one, can't wait until their next cd comes out. I know that you will enjoy this cd as much as I do......"
