"HIS RENDITION OF ELUCE LE STELLE, AND CORE 'NGRATO, ARE THE FINEST I HAVE EVER HEARD, HIS VOICE WAS MAGNIFICENT. WE HAVE NOT YET FOUND HIS MATCH, IN MY WORDS, THIS IS HIS FINEST ALBUM, THIS ALBUM WAS RECORDED LIVE, AND HE WAS IN GREAT VOICE."
The forgotten Tenor

"Segio Franchi's was arguably the greatest dramatic tenor voice of all time.
His timber darker than that of Correlli, equal to that of Del Monaco, his high notes penetrating and secure, and his interpretation of song more passionate than anyone I've yet to hear, with the exception of Mario Lanza perhaps.
That's having been said, this is a truly fine collection of some of Sergio's work. The first CD is a studio album, and though good by any standard, the material comes across as dated.
It's on the LIVE CD that we really get a glimpse of the incredible voice and style this man had. Though the material is no less dated, it doesn't come across that way.
Here Sergio covers a fairly wide breadth of musical styles, all interpreted with apropriate feeling and stylistic nuance.
Most noteworthy is his rendition of "Stella by Starlight" and "E Lucevan Le Stelle" from TOSCA.
His interpretation of the latter is particularily interesting as it makes one wish he'd recorded an album of arias.
One can only imagine what Sergio could have done with "Nessun Dorma" or " Vesti La Giubba".
Sergio Franchi ladies and gents.....one of the greatest dramatic tenor voices most have never heard.
If your idea of a crossover tenor is Bocelli or Watson, then please get this CD....you'll not regret it."
The Voice of a true lover

"I fell in love with Sergio's voice when he sang 'Coren'grato'on the Ed Sullivan show. In him finally I had found a replacement for Mario Lanza whom I still miss terribly. The 'malafemmena' recording alone is worth the cost of obtaining this collectible CD.
And I had the pleasure of hearing Sergio live at the Cocoanut Grove just three days after his release from the hospital where he'd been treated for exhaustion. Those of you who were in Los Angeles with me in those days will remember that John Gary stepped in and did a heroic job for three evenings. But it was Sergio's magnificent emotionally sustaining performance that night that established him as a true troubador of romantic lyrics.
Though missed beyond words he still holds a treasured place in our hearts."

"The Cocoanut Grove still lives on in our memories with the return of this album. I bought the album as an LP record in the 60s and just fell in love with it. Sergio Franchi's voice is incomparable. I have been waiting a long time for the release of this magnificent CD. The magic begins with his introduction and continues for the entire performance until the last notes of Core 'Ngrato drift away. The listener will experience a wide range of emotions from this premier performance. Buy it today and treasure it forever."
