An Important Adjunct to Dante Studies and to Interstate Driv

"This CD is an important adjunct to Dante studies, as his Divine Comedy carries a major subtext of his response to the troubadour school in verse and music. We will never know how the music actually sounded, of course, but Sequentia delivers a hauntingly beautiful facsimile, based on scholarship but not so much so as to be stilted and dry. Not hardly. Besides broadening our appreciation of Dante by putting forth major songs and singers reflected in his work, this CD is catchy as Buddy Holly or King Presley, as at home on the road as Willy Nelson. Great for listening anywhere, at home or office, great for either attentive study or as background for pounding computer keys. Absolutely fabulous for interstate highway driving on the grand prairie. Put it in your CD changer between Highway 61 and Aimee Mann's Lost in Space, as you cruise across our bounteous land, and see what happens."

"I had checked this CD out from my local library many years ago now. I liked it so much that I put it on a list I keep of musical pieces I particularly like. I tried to get the CD a few months ago and discovered that it is no longer in the circulation collection of the library. Luckily I was able to find a copy for purchase here. I was so excited when it came, I have listened to it multiple times since I received it. The early music presented on this collection is a delight, the recording is excellent and the performances are outstanding. If you have a thing for the haunting tones and melodies of early music this is a must have for your collection. Jewels like this shouldn't be out of print!
