"a highly talented melding of burlesque, rock theater with a mid 70s sound sensibility... this is the S.A.H.B. and this is their definitive album....i admit not everyone will "get it' and like this album, but it is still a great album. Songs based on theater-like characters, presented to the listener with the scottish brogue of the late mr. alex harvey makes for a great time..the tomahawk kid,the man in the jar, sargeant fury...all players in the band that is truly the SENSATIONAL Alex Harvey Band!!.... I f you like this disc, check out "NEXT"."

">I remember watching the 70's t.v show In Concert >and seeing Alex Harvey for the first time. The >concert was fantastic. This is exactly how I was first exposed to the SAHB. I can't believe how under appreciated Alex Harvey was bak then and still is today. Been trying to keep the flame alive for years here in Brooklyn"

"The criminally underappreciated Alex Harvey Band mixed crack musicianship and Glitter Rock theatrics with goofy Bonzo Dog-type lyrics to create one of the more unique hard rock acts of the 70's. The long-ovedue CD reissue of "Impossible Dream" should excite all fans of 70's rock obscura. The SAHB's best effort features thier usual bag of faux-Broadway/English music hall winks set to melodic hard rock arrangements, especially on standout cuts "River Of Love" and the hilariously silly "pirate" epic "The Tomahawk Kid" (you'll find yourself tromping around the living room playing air guitar and spouting "Yo ho ho and a yo ho ho!", wishing you owned a parrot). Underrated lead guitarist Zal Cleminson (whose patented Kabuki-white face makeup with black stars over the eyes may have influenced Kiss!) is in particularly fine form on this album. If you're a fan of (early) Alice Cooper, The Tubes, 10cc or similar tongue-in-cheek rockers, you'll probably like the SAHB. "Impossible Dream" is a great introduction to the band."
