"If I had to buy this album again I would. "Into the Fire" and "Sad Clown" are perfectly lovely songs. My favorite song,though is "Black". It's absolutely perfect and beautiful. The words are great the strings make the song and of course there is that beautiful voice. This song alone is worth the money."

New version of "Black" makes it all worthwhile

"The violin remixes of Sad Clown and Black are absolutely wonderful and put a whole new spin on the already beautiful songs. This is a hard single to get so if you find it, get it while you can. Sarah McLachlan is simply an amazing singer/songwriter."

"From the earliest of fans, Sarah has had a strong following in the techno/gothic/dance scene. Vox, Steaming, Into the Fire, Possession and now Sweet Surrender are all remixed for the dancers out there who need substance with their beat. Into the Fire is mixed to a fast and hard beat which must be heard very loud at night after a bottle or two of wine!"

McLachlan with a marvelous classical slant

"I am a huge Sarah McLachlan fan, and have been since hearing "Into the Fire" way back in 1992. This single was one of the first CDs I bought after getting a CD player, and it's been spun countless times.

This single contains the album version of "Into the Fire" and two spectacular tracks taken from "The CBC Sessions" in which Mclachlan performed a handful of songs with a classical ensemble instead of her regular band. Sarah had classical voice training when she was young, and she snaps her voice back into that 'perfect' mode with these performances.

"Sad Clown", which appears on her first album Touch, blossoms from a naive Kate Bush tribute into a beautiful song with the classic orchestra. This song is so gorgeously and perfectly performed, Sarah's voice so filled with emotion and yet perfectly pitched, you won't notice that the lyrics don't mean too much.

"Black", on the other hand, is clearly a well-written song about greed. Aimed at the record industry, it's one of her most political songs. Still she shrouds it in imagery and metaphor. The CBC Session's take is haunting, even eerie with the plodding Cello and violins darkening the mood from the album version. Sarah even lowers her voice an octave below what she used on Solace, to add to the almost morbid mood of the song.

This single is a definite must have for the Sarah McLachlan fan who likes her early work, or anyone who likes her voice and would like to hear it paired with classical instruments.

Sadly, the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) closed thier recording division in the early 90's locking the rest of the Sarah McLachlan "CBC Sessions" tracks up forever, so pick this CD up before it goes out of print!"
