"I do kinda wish that this had been more like the Rudolph album - without the narration, and with both vocal and instrumental versions of all the songs.Having said that, I guess I must qualify it by saying that we are probably lucky that we have this at all. It is, literally, a reproduction of the original albums that were released when the TV specials came out. The audio is great, very clear. Now, when are we going to see a soundtrack CD for "The Year Without a Santa Claus"?"
This IS the BEST RANKIN/BASS CD to date!!!

"A PERFECT Christmas gift for those RANKIN/BASS fans! I disagree with the other review here. Paul Frees and June Foray on the FROSTY soundtrack is what makes this so SPECIAL! WONDERFUL PACKAGING too!!!!So glad to see another company involve RICK! Makes a BIG difference...as it did with the MAD MONSTER PARTY DVD!!!!My hat is off to RHINO!!! Also my hat goes off to JULES BASS and MAURY LAWS for making two TIMELESS soundtracks!"
I can't believe these albums are 1 CD! What a Holiday treat!

"As a soundtrack collector, and a big fan of the Rankin-Bass TV specials, I've searched high and low for the rare original MGM Records LPs of these great classics. I never would have dreamed there'd be a CD! Leave it to the great folks at Rhino to come up with both of these gems on a single disc. The sound is good quality (for a TV soundtrack) and it's a wonderful treasure for any family to enjoy at holiday time. Highly recommended!"
Classic Stories, Poor CD...

"... The stories are enjoyable and the voice talent is fantasic, except in this version of "Frosty" we hear the June Foray/Paul Frees versions of the childrens' voices. There has been a lot of griping that these actors sessions were not used in the final cut of the film and there is even some talk of reinstating them into the film as a "Special Edition". However there was a very good reason these actors' recordings were redone for the film, as talented as Frees and Foray are, they are not very good in these roles. The Paul Frees lines makes one laugh that anyone thought these were believable voices for kids. June Foray's Karen sounds flat and often uninteresting, however her groans and grunts stayed in the final film. If you'd like to have these films for car trips or to listen to on your computer, then you may want to purchase this disc. If you desire something more, then this is not the disc for you."
