Originating from a world of liturgical choirs and opera houses, British countertenor Ryland Angel has composed an album that showcases unique modern songwriting styles. On his self-titled debut album, Ryland creates a compelling, distinctive sound that infuses his haunting, operatic voice with a progressive, adult-pop style. Ryland has sung with many prestigious ensembles, among them William Christie's Les Arts Florissants and the Ensemble of Early Music of New York, and has performed at Lincoln Center, the New York City Opera, the Opéra National de Paris and Carnegie Hall. Ryland was nominated for a classical Grammy in 2005 for his work with the Tiffany Consort and maintains a busy classical concert schedule. As a singer/songwriter, Ryland's sound encompasses polyphonic harmonies set against acoustic and electronic flourishes and, above all, Ryland's extraordinary vocals.
