"Ruth Brown passed away recently. She was one of the finest female vocalist jazz, soul, and R&B singers of her generation and this compilation displays her talent for expressing the lyrics her way.
Her way is soulful, depth, clear, and smooth. Ruth Brown was one of the most important female vocalists of her time or any time. This two disc collection is worth the price and her voice is simply soulful and her range is wide.
This collection has 15 songs on each disc. She was was known as Miss Rhythm and the imcomparable Ruth Brown. Her range of music included blues, jazz, and rhythm and blues. She scored two dozen chart hits from 1949 to 1960. She sang on Broadway and won a Tony Award for "Black and Blue."
She was partly responsible for keeping Atlantic Records alive in the 1950s. She was truly a legendary musical figure of her time or any time. She was classy, elegant, and graceful right up to the end in 2006. She is a sorely missed figure in the musical world.
This collection is a great way to remember a great lady of music."
