Journey Through the Past

"Rita Coolidge's first 2 A&M albums on CD !! This represents some of her very finest work. Her debut is clearly unforgettable. Every cut is a winner. The vocals are strong, with alot of heart. "Ain't That Peculiar" is one of the best Motown covers ever recorded."Second Story Window" remains her truly very best. The songwriters and musicians are really first rate. Rita is singing songs worthy of her great voice.(Van Morrison, Neil Young, Booker T. Jones, among the writers) Second album "Nice Feelin' " is a little more mellow...and contains a rare moment ( Rita plays piano on Neil Young's "Journey Through The Past" !!)Rita's version of Dave Mason's "Only You Know And I Know" is better than Dave's,and Graham Nash's "Better Days" is awesome...but the heart of this album are the Marc Benno cuts ("Family Full Of Soul", and "Nice Feelin'")I also think this second album is one of Rita's favorites herself !
Thank you to BGO records for recognizing the UNDER RATED Rita Coolidge, with this great set, the booklet and expanded notes are fantastic ! This is a treasure for any Rita fan, and proves to all that Rita was a trail blazer for women in rock. Keep going Rita !!"

"RITA COOLIDGE HAS ONE OF THE BEST VOICES IN MUSIC. SHE CAN SING IT ALL
COUNTRY, POP, ROCK, STANDARDS- ANYTHING. THESE ARE HER FIRST 2 RELEASES
AND THEY ARE RITA AT HER BEST. MOST OF THE SONGS ARE COVERS WHEN ACTUALLY RITA SINGS THEM BEST. THESE ARE THE RELEASES BEFORE RITA COOLIDGE MADE IT BIG IN POP MUSIC. I FIND THESE 2 RELEASES TO BE
RITA'S QUIET YEARS AND THEY SHOW THE PROMISE WHICH LEAD TO RITA'S
FAME. TO HAVE BOTH OF THESE ON 1 CD IS UNBELIEVEABLE. EVEN IN THESE EARLY RELEASES RITA SHOWED HER TALENT, CLASS, AND PERFECTION."
