Familiar but Festive

"Ricky Van Shelton's Blue Christmas is predominantly comprised of contemporary classics like "Silver Bells" and "Winter Wonderland," with a couple of hymns ("Silent Night," "O Come All Ye Faithful) and a remake of his best known holiday composition ("Country Christmas") filling out the lineup. Shelton's voice has grown deeper and less supple since his hit-making run about a decade ago, but a tremendous warmth still radiates. For those who like their Christmas music familiar and unadventurous, this set should delight."

"Although I am not necessarily a huge Ricky Van Shelton fan, this CD is AWESOME! For just simply beautiful easy-listening holiday music, Blue Christmas is hard to beat! He somehow captures all the rhapsody of the season in an almost hauntingly melancholy manner. The vocal clarity is astounding. I loved it - this one will undoubtedly become an all-time holiday favorite!"

"I have had this CD since the first season it was released. It's a permanent part of my traveling CD connection. I play it in the car even when it's not Christmas. Hearing such a beautiful voice singing my favorite Christmas songs brings me enormous pleasure."
