"This U.K. import contains two of Conniff's best instrumental albums from 1958.Unfortunately, Sony used foreign masters which do not sound as good as the digitally remastered U.S. CDs. The chorus is barely audible on several tracks on Hollywood In Rhythm. For the absolute best quality sound, buy the individual Broadway In Rhythm and Hollywood In Rhythm CDs from the United States."
Remastered versions reveal instrumental technique/stylings

"for me, who owns the original vinyl versions of these 2 recordings, this remastering was refreshingly different, like hearing these exemplary arrangements from conniff's "hot" years with new ears.
because the chorus is more subdued, the instrumentalists are more pronounced, revealing note-bending, vibrato and other stylistic techniques from these top studio musicians. the word "transparent" describes this remaster because placing the chorus more "in the back vs. upfront" allows us to "see" and appreciate the orchestra's crisp talent.
these tunes are perfectly conniff, arranged with his signature flare and taken from his early orchestra & chorus period when the arranger-conductor was hitting his stride, rapidly achieving popular success.
this remastering serves as a good 2nd edition companion to the originals or as a stand-alone that showcases the trademark conniff sound at its big band best."
