"Along with Doc Severinsen`s christmas cd,"Merry Christmas from Doc Severinsen and the Tonight Show Orchestra," Ray Anthony`s "Dream Dancing Christmas" cd, recorded in 1995, proves they still make instrumental christmas music like they used to. This cd is like something recorded in the 1940`s, 1950`s, or 1960`s. Very jazzy and big band. Remember, Ray Anthony has been around for decades performing since at least the mid 1940`s, so he really knows the traditional stuff. Mel Torme sings on 2 songs, but it really is an instrumental cd. It is also very smooth and romantic, not nearly as much as Jackie Gleason`s "Merry Christmas" cd which is over-the-top as it could be the greatest christmas cd out there, but Ray Anthony`s is for sure on-top and if you want another romantic christmas cd to go with Mr. Gleason`s or you just want another great jazz, big band instrumental christmas cd, then Ray Anthony`s christmas cd is for you. Just listen to the soothing HAPPY HOLIDAYS, WHITE CHRISTMAS, SILVER BELLS, and the other songs one christmas night with all the lights out except for the christmas lights and rest on the couch, maybe with that someone special, and you`ll be taken to a 'christmas dreamland' and with that, I`ll just say, 'merry christmas!'"
