"Art Tatum plays the piano like Venus Williams plays tennis--consistent and hot, but seemingly effortless. The notes flow through his fingers faster than you can say "Match, Set, Game". It's beautiful to see Venus play, and beautiful to hear Art Tatum and Ben Webster swap serves on this record, originally issued on the Pablo label. If you are a died-in-the-wool Woody Allen fan, you will enjoy listening to this CD. Several of the songs formed the soundtrack to one of Woody's more obscure movies, a film version of a piece first written as a play, "September". The music, like all music Woody picks for his movies, sets the mood and maintains the flow between lines spoken and reacted to by the characters just the same as Venus Williams sets the tone for her matches. This music is a must hear if you like Art Tatum. Even at the import price, it's a steal."
