"This cd is composed of his earlier material and has some radio comedy skits with Red Foley and Jim Reeves. Every track on this album is a gem. I have the Essential Porter Wagoner and Porter Wagoner's Greatest Hits cds, but this is the one that I play and enjoy the most. I had been looking for a great cd by Porter Wagoner for years and had just about given up until I found A Rare Slice of Country. Even the picture on this cd, showing a young Porter Wagoner, is great. If you truly want a great album by Porter Wagoner, give yiourself a treat and buy this one."
