An overlooked gem

"Paulette became famous as lead singer of Highway 101, a group that she left when it was at the peak of its success. Highway 101 continued with different singers but never achieved the same level success, even when Paulette eventually rejoined them for a time. This album was recorded in 1993 on a small independent label and is therefore easily overlooked. Paulette wrote two of the songs - Christmas is for you and Mrs Santa Claus, both of them worth a listen - but otherwise recorded a selection of standards. Three of the standards are carols, while the other five are cheerful songs with a more general Christmas theme.Paulette's voice is husky but warm - a classic country voice. If you are familiar with her from her recordings with Highway 101, you will be pleased to know that Paulette still sounded in great voice here. The music, while upbeat, does not rock the way that Highway 101 did, although that's fine by me.This may not be essential (except for Paulette's fans) but it is a lovely album, better than many albums recorded for major labels. And look at the price."

"You may like Paulette Carlson's voice or not(I love it), but noone can deny that it fits great to every song on this CD.
Never heard a better version of "What Child Is This". My favourite Christmas CD!"
