CD Reviews

I Was There and Knew it Was Grammy Material

"Patti Page is my Great Aunt and "Great" she is in more ways than one! I was honored to be at Carnegie Hall for this live concert and if you think that listening to the CD will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up...you should have been there. I must admit that I will always love hearing Aunt Patti sing the hits that she made into standards but it was the obscure titles that captured the attention of the sold-out audience and myself as well. Unchained Melody, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Wee Small Hours of the Morning, Foggy Day and Ain't No Sunshine; ...wow it still blows my socks off! Control, freedom, range; all words that describe Patti Page. Her voice reigns! When you hear her, especially on this live CD you almost have to pinch yourself to make sure that she is not in the same room, singing just for you. The best thing of all...she is the kindest lady you could ever meet. Guess it is that good 'ole Oklahoma up-bringing!!!! This CD is a treasure to add to your collection!!"
Could be one of the last times to get a collection like this

"Patti is ageless. I realize that she is 71 years old but she sings just as great as she did in the 1950's. I heard her at a dinner theatre in Akron about 10-15 years ago and expressed my sentiments in person. Last night she won a GRAMMY for this CD. This is so well deserved for such a talent. Something like Allegheny Moon sounds just as good as the day it came out. This is what I mean by ageless."
A lot to listen to

"Patti Page's voice has darkened and thickened so don't expect the sound you heard on the hit records. What you get instead is a vastly more interesting singer tackling an impressive range of material with expertise and total commitment. Patti was known as the perfect technician but she's gone beyond that to become perfectly interesting. She once was a musically superb but polite vocalist who sang with heart but seldom dived below the surface of her songs. Now she has ripened into an interpreter of great intelligence, perception and depth, plus she's STILL musically superb. This album documents a hitmaker who became a true artist. It got the Grammy and justly so."
