"This is a great CD. But I must admitt to being greatly biased in favor of Paolo Conte. He is one of my favorite musical artists. I also love Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, John Prine, etc., if this tells you anything. I have about 6 or 7 Paolo Conte CDs now, and "Sporca Vita" is at the top of my list. Before you consider buying this CD however, a caveat is in order: this is the Paolo of 1974. He is younger and has a younger voice. Sort of like Bob Dylan in his earlier albums. He still writes amazing and complex songs, both lyrically and musically, but he is singing in a higher register that sounds strained at times. But I LOVE Paolo and don't care! Also like the early Dylan albums, these songs have some back up intruments, but not many. Some songs have nothing but Paolo and his piano. They are all very catchy though, and I find myself humming them throughout the day! There is not a song here I do not love, and that is hard to say about many albums.Don't buy this album as your first Paolo Conte experience, but ONCE you have come to love him, then it is a must.
