"I bought this ALBUM 31 years ago, when I was 13. I memorized every poem on it. I played it so much, I wore the poor thing out. I was delighted when I came across the CD. I can't begin to express how this collection of poems touched my life. There is something for every mood and feeling. If you have never heard it, get it and get uplifted!"
Play it, then play it again and hear something beautiful!

"I used to have the original albums of this and a couple other of her works with the gospel choirs. Nikki's poems have a kind of flair that not only tickle your funny bone but also make you think. I am glad that my search has brought me here. Now I will be able to share with my children what I enjoyed when I was younger. This young lady has a lot of love and it shows in what she has shared with us. Her poems are so colorful that you could close your eyes and imagine yourself sitting on the porch next to the "lady of leisure" (you could see the pride and years of survival in her eyes) or standing right there as she brings the scene to life in the "Alabama Poem" (my favorite*). Ms Giovani is to poetry what Minnie Ripperton is to music. The music and poetry will take you to a place where you can truely feel all of your senses. Play it, then play it again and hear (see) something beautiful! Thanks Nikki, from Midas in Okinawa, Japan. This review is from what I remember hearing on the albums. I will revisit this review after I receive the CD's."
TIMELESS

"I first heard this in LP form at my grandmother's home when I was a child. Then, it was very popular in our family as well as our neighbors' families, especially Nikki being a Chicagoan. It was nice I thought, but I did not realize how important this work was until I grew into adulthood. The music is music for the soul and second to none. Superbly arranged and performed. The poetry is right on point, comforting, informative, and distressing but mostly comforting . Every American should have this work in their home and introduce it to their family and community."
STILL IN LOVE WITH THIS YEARS LATER

"I bought the LP years ago and loved it. I played it so much that the sound quality is poor. I feel blessed to be able to own the CD. And now, years later as I listen to it with more mature ears....words cannot express the power and love I feel. Nikki's words fill me with a true sense of pride to be a beautiful African-American woman, proud to be who I am and where I've been. Her words help me understand what it means to learn from our older family members and friends. Unless you have a heart of rocks you will love this CD. You will find yourself singing along with the choir, LOUD, and lifting your hands in praise!"
