If anything will drive a nail into the Backstreet Boys' coffin, it's this surprisingly impressive solo album from Nick Carter. The first of the Fab Five to break out on his own, Carter reveals a rocker's heart that's lurke... more »d under his high-gloss pop exterior. While he rasps and struts through his 12-song debut, we're not talking headbanging mayhem here. Carter excels in the brand of guitar rock that put Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams on the map. The elder Carter conjures the militaristic flamboyance of Queen on "Girls in the USA," or the teasing coyness of "Raspberry Beret"-era Prince on "My Confession." The anthemic "Is It Saturday Yet" is another highlight. Despite a seven-year tenure singing other people's songs as a member of America's favorite boy band, Carter proves himself an able tunesmith, penning five of the tracks on the disc, and plays some fine guitar. --Jaan Uhelszki« less

"Nick Carter's first solo CD has distinguished himself from his boy band days. The CD overall is full of a mix between rock/pop! I really enjoyed it and I would seriously recommend it! The bonus CD is totally wicked! It is actually worth having, because it does have some fun things on it, unlike some other bonus CD's with just a music video on it. 1. Help Me- His first single, awesome! Really catchy, and show's his rock side.2. My Confession - Love this song! 3. I Stand For You - Wicked Song! A very rockish feel. It made me get up and start dancing.4. Do I Have To Cry For You - A wonderful ballad. It has a backstreet boy feel.5. Girls In The US - Again a rock feel! A great song6. I Got You - A different song then the rest, but still has a good catchy beat.7. Is It Saturday - Probably the worst song on the CD. It didn't appeal to me at all.8. Blow Your Mind - Again not a very good song. It has a Bon Jovi feel to it9. Miss America - An excellent song. It's very laid back and enjoyable.10. I Just Want To Take You Home - Reminds me of "Help Me". A good song11. Heart Without A Home (Ill be yours) - Wickedly sang ballot. 12. Who Needs The World - Very sweet song. It ends the CD with a good overall feeling.Awesome CD everyone should pick it up : D"
Solid Gold.

"Nick Carter, best known as the cute, blonde Backstreet Boy, has gone solo! But luckily (for BSB fans), not for good. Still, 'Now Or Never' is one of the best underrated gem albums of the year. Each song is original and creative, with a good hard rock feel combined into a smooth sugary pop feel. Influenced by artists like Linkin Park, Bryan Adams, Nirvana, and Journey, Nick added a little bit of their musicial styles into his own original style. Nick's unique, polished vocals are another plus to the album; which shows his strength in vocal harmoney. He also co-writes much of the music on this album as well as even playing a little bit of the guitar and drums. Here is each listed track:1.) "Help Me" ~ the first single off the album. I'm sure most of you have heard it by now. This song is about the struggles Nick has been going through over the past few years. Very rockish. 5/5 stars2.) "My Confession" ~ most likely this will be Nick's second single. A Linkin Parkish sounding song. Strong vocals provided by Nick. A song about a girl Nick wants to get to know better. 5/5 stars3.) "I Stand For You" ~ very hard-core rockish. In this song, Nick is telling a girl that he is always there for her and will live his life the way he wants to. 5/5 stars4.) "Do I Have To Cry For You" ~ one of the album's best ballads. Very heartfelt song about Nick telling a girl that basically, their relationship is over. 5/5 stars5.) "Girls In The USA" (featuring Mr. Vegas) ~ one of the album's most hard-core rock songs. Though the lyrics may seem a little bit cheesy, the hard-core music is what really makes this song work. It's about Nick's view of American girls. 4/5 stars6.) "I Got You" ~ another good rock song, but with more of a pop feel to it. In this song, Nick tells a girl that all he needs is her and he's glad he has her. 4/5 stars7.) "Is It Saturday Yet?" ~ very rockish type of song about Nick wishing it was Saturday. The vocals are strong and the beat is really good...it just makes you wanna belt out: "Is it REALLY Saturday yet?" 5/5 stars8.) "Blow Your Mind" ~ probably one of the album's best tracks of all. Very hard-core rockish and in the lyrics, Nick tells about a girl he meets who does crazy things that just blows his mind. 5/5 stars9.) "Miss America" ~ another more patriotic like song. It's more slow and in it, Nick describes an American girl who he has fallen in love with. Sweet, but just a little cheesy. 4/5 stars10.) "I Just Wanna Take You Home" ~ another favorite off the album and probably one of the album's other best tracks. Very hard-core rock sounding. In this song, Nick says that he has fallen in love with a girl and all he wants to do is take her to his home. 5/5 stars11.) "Heart Without A Home (I'll Be Yours)" ~ another ballad. A very romantic ballad with more of a pop feel and is about Nick wanting to be with the girl he loves. 5/5 stars12.) "Who Needs The World" ~ the last ballad and track on this album. In this song, Nick sings about wanting to be with a girl and that he doesn't feel as though he needs anything else when he's got her. Very sweet, romantic ballad. A good way to end the album. 5/5 starsA bonus to this album is the limited time DVD. This DVD includes exclusive interviews with Nick, the making of his "Help Me" music video plus the full music video itself, see him in Stockholm, Sweeden performing and recording songs for 'Now Or Never', exclusive photos, and much more. You can also be sure that you won't be hearing the same ol' songs being repeated over and over again on this CD. Each song is original (like I mentioned before), and it is just plain enjoyable. And no, this does NOT mean the Backstreet Boys are splitting--in fact, they will be going back into the studios to record their fourth album this January. If you enjoy rock and pop music, then 'Now Or Never' is a must.I highly recommend 'Now Or Never' by Nick Carter.Score:

"I, being a Backstreet Boys fan to begin with, was bery excited to hear about Nick Carter going solo. I had the days counted down to the release of his debut album. When I got it, I locked myself in my bedroom and listened to the whole thing. It was so AMAZING!! I couldn't believe how much of himself he put into the songs. He didn't just sing, he made music. You know something is good when it can change how you feel inside. I was so astounded with how great it is that I played the cd until it wouldn't play anymore. I recomend this album to anyone who likes rock music and anyone who wants something truly amazing."
No ordinary singer! No ordinary cd!

"Nick claims to be an ordinary man in the first song called "Help Me." Ok that's fine but he's no ordinary singer. This cd has no flaws. From beginning to end, verse to verse, high octave to low octave, crying to dancing, Nick covered it all. I have heard people compare him to Sugar Ray, Bryan Adams, and even Jon Bon Jovi. They're half right, he can sing like all of them but they can't sing anything like him. Nick himself wrote 5 songs on this cd:
1. My Confession - this must be the one "they" compared to Sugar Ray, it has that kind of tempo. It has the rock touch with an upbeat "pop" in the back.
2. I Stand For You - hmm no one compares-just Nick rockin' it with a little bit of scratchin' added(no other way to explain it.)
3. Do I Have To Cry For You -ok here's your Bryan Adams sound -but deeper, more emotional and ok its heartwrenching, you can't help but feel the pain...
4. Girls in the USA - GUITARS, DRUMS and NICK - 'nuf said(maybe this is the Bon Jovi reference)
5. Is it Saturday Yet - This would be just a pure dance song if Nick's voice wasn't so penetrating. It's fun, bouncy, rocking, guess it has it all. My favorite part is the flub at the end that they left in.
Ok the rest...
I Got You - this has a U2 touch to it. Light rock feel and that voice.
I Just Wanna Take You Home - eclectic is what comes to mind - cool mix of a lot of different styles
Heart Without A Home - Nick, Nick, Nick oh and some piano backup
Who Needs the World - if you believe real singing is gone, this is the one for you!
Miss America - vividly DANGEROUS - not for the weak of heart"
Awesome CD From a VERY Talented guy!

"This album surprised me as well. When I bought it, I figured it would sound R&B-ish or a bit boy-bandish-lollipop pop music and it turned out to be a rock album with Bryan Adams sounds and the lyrics weren't bad at all. It's a fun album to listen to with your sunroof and windows of your car open and blasting the sounds of Nick Carter's Now or Never. Two thumbs WAYYYYY UP!!!"
