"if 12 Songs is the unplugged Neil, then Three Chord Opera is the whole Neil Diamond band (including his concert horn section)having a good time celebrating an early style rock n roll that Neil was a big part of.But as feel good as songs like "Mission of Love",Baby Lets Drive" and "Dont Look Down" are,Neil Diamond the introspective singer/songwriter is well represented too.Ballads like "I Haven't Played This Song In Years" and "Midnight Dream" remind one more of Neil's early 70's gems then post-Streisand duet fluff.Richly orchestrated and deeply personal, the slower songs are some of Neil's strongest in years too.
12 Songs is mildy uneven. This is probably due to the fact that the Saving Silverman soundtrack was never released, and those songs ended up on Three Chord Opera. But other then that,Three Chord Opera is a strong collection, and has something for everybody."
As good as ever

"There isn't much that I can add to what has already been said about Neil Diamond's music. Like most, you either like him or you don't. I have a lot of his music and wanted to update some of my collection. Elijah's Song was written for his new grandson. His music always offers new insight in this talented man. I purchase a lot of items through Amazon as I know they back up their service to the customer.
