When her voice is contrasted with classic recordings like Dusty Springfield's version of Bacharach/David's The Look of Love, she survives the test gracefully.A fine singer, she provides an individual style that feels fresh and unique after all these years.Whether she is an aquired taste or not doesn't seem so relevant. What is relevant is that she reminds us how low popular taste has fallen when there aren't many artist that could fill Ms King's shoes.Five stars all the way."

"Awesome musical 60's contain a wide variety of magical musical talent and one of the most uniquely original and wonderful of them all is MISS MORGANA KING. Nobody possesses a voice so deeply passionate and exquisite like Morgana with an incredible five octave range plus tones so soothing they are totally hypnotic. First became familiar with this legendary singer upon hearing "A TASTE OF HONEY" becoming totally mesmerized with Morgana's extraordinary gift searching for anything available. FRANK SINATRA signed his personal favorite Morgana King to his own Reprise Records where Miss King recorded three classic lp's making up this great two-disc set and Mr. Sinatra spared no expense in production of these masterworks which remain among the best ever released by this peerless singer. Old vinyl becomes less clear over the years and Morgana King lp's from this period mostly sound worn so when this trilogy was released these great lp's could once again be enjoyed as they were meant to be heard as remastering is complete perfection. Each one of these brilliant albums have a distinctive feel and are timeless extraordinary classics that stand up to the test of time. Legendary arrangers Torrie Zito and Don Costa provide lush orchestrations that compliment Morgana's stirring and rhythmic vocals and provide the listener with a musical experience unlike any other. Charlie Champlin's "THIS IS MY SONG" is incredibly moving and the haunting beauty and depth of emotion conveyed in this glorious version is stunning and passionate...vocal beauty abound with a definitive "A TIME FOR LOVE" then the haunting "WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME" is torchy & breathtakingly beautiful. Morgana's jazz chops are well defined in the magnificent "WATCH WHAT HAPPENS" and "THE LOOK OF LOVE" has never sounded quite so seductive. JOBIM sublime and passionate by Morgana in a brilliant trilogy starting with a hypnotic "ONCE I LOVED" then on to a mesmerizing "SOFTLY SAY GOOD-BYE" closing with the deeply soulful "I'D STAY WITH YOU" filled with genuine pathos. "ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF CHICAGO" is the most brilliant version ever of this classic and Morgana King takes it to the max making it wild and funky!! "Morgana King is a fantastic singer with a lot of originality, which is unusual, especially in this time of singing nullity. It's so good to hear a true voice with much musicality and expressivity. I love her strange - actually not strange, just refined - vocalizations, which recall me of another great lady of jazz, Cleo Laine. This CD offers a superb choice of songs and I highly recommend it to real jazz lovers. Yes, Miss King is a Queen!"
