"I'm familiar with this recording for over 20 years now, since it first came out on LP. Mireille Mathieu uses her voice expressively like an instrument and the orchestral instrumentation is very subtle. It is not important to understand the French and Italian lyrics, because they are not particularly good, but the sound of these languages compliment Morricone's music perfectly. I'm thrilled to have found this CD at Amazon.com because my LP is very scratched already and I have been looking for years for a CD copy of this recording."
Beautiful instrumentals with one of the best in the world!

"Mireille Mathieu has really outdone herself on this CD. Her beautiful voice is richly challenged in this assort- ment of unusually haunting melodies by Ennio Morricone. I especially liked the instrumentals in Da quel Sorriso che non ride piu. This CD is excellent because it highlights Mireilles tremendous voice range and passion!"
Masterpiece.

"I have been a fan of Mireille Mathieu for over thirty years.
Everything she does she excells, but this album must truley be the jewel in the crown.
From 'Un jour tu reviendras' to 'Melodie', its sheer listening pleasure. The range of her unique voice, coupled with the tremendous amount of emotion that this lady can generate is typical of this French perfectionist."
Exceptional CD, likely Mireille's best album.

"As my title says, this is likely Mireille Mathieu's best album, whether CD or LP. What can I add to the other favorable reviews of this CD? Background is what I can add. This CD is composed of ten songs from a 1974 recording session in Rome in which Mireille sang songs composed by Enno Morricone. However, Mr. Morricone was more involved than just authoring the music; he wrote the arrangements and conducted the orchestra at these sessions. Thus, this is not just Ms. Mathieu recording Mr. Morricone's music, but is a collaboration between the singer and composer. That collaboration may be why this album is so outstanding. The album contains seven songs in French and three in Italian. Thus, both the types of songs and the languages vary in the album. As stated in other reviews, the Morricone songs challenge the impressive vocal range possessed by Ms. Mathieu. [Note: The CD titled "Canto Morricone, Vol 3" (Songs of Morricone, Vol. 3) contains four more songs from that recording session. "Nata Libera" (Naturally Free) and "Quando Verranno I Giorni" are in Italian, and "Pas vu, pas pris" (No see, no take) and Mon ami de Toujours" (My Friend from Toujours) are in French. These songs add to my admiration of that recording session. One wonders if any more treasures from that session are in the vault of some Italian recording studio. One hopes so.]"
