Very disappointing

"I have followed Michael English since his days with the Singing Americans. I think he has a TERRIFIC voice, and I eagerly anticipated this album since he first talked about doing a Christmas album several years ago.I hate to say it, but I was VERY disappointed. Michael has obviously tried to go with a "jazzier" style, but in the process, he mumbles through his words so badly that I would strongly suggest making sure the printed words are included in the next project he does. He sounds like he's got a wad of chewing gum in his mouth that he's trying to sing around.Michael has a TREMENDOUS voice, but he never shows it off in this album. This Christmas album should have been absolutely fabulous. Instead, it's just mediocre. I believe most Michael English fans will be as disappointed as I am with this project.Come on, Michael...make sure your next album shows off that God-given talent...and give your fans what they're expecting!!!"

"This is an excellent new project from the gifted vocalist.
Michael adds his own self described style "english in it".
This project combines his powerful voice singing the majority
of the songs in an R&B/ jazz style. The remake of Mary Did You Know is incredible and is actually better the his original release of the song in the 90's.Other tunes are fan favorites in Silent Night, Go Tell It On The Mountain, O Holy Night, etc.English fans will be very pleased with this latest effort from English."
Headed in a different direction

"Fans of Michael English may be taken aback by this recording. Rather than showcasing his pop abilities, this Christmas album is rather laid-back. Many of the basic tracks were produced by long-time friend Michael Sykes (giving it a little more southern gospel feel), and the singing is more reserved than previous efforts. The result is a nice change of pace for English. To give you an idea, his new rendition of "Mary Did You Know" (previously done with synthesizers and drum loops) is done with acoustic guitars and live percussion.Overall, I think it's a great recording and a fresh sound for Michael English. Sure to be a holiday favorite."
