Product DescriptionThis CD is truly a "fourtified" version of one of the genre's most polished ensembles. The Miami Saxophone Quartet offers up yet another collection of strikingly original compositions and arrangements utilizing all varieties of accompaniment, including percussion, string quartet, and beautifully conceived synthesized backgrounds. The quartet covers two classics from the Dave Brubeck library, It's a Raggy Waltz and Blue Rondo a la Turk, along with Ron Miller's Seventh Sign. Three originals by members Gary Lindsay and Ed Calle round out the program. Perhaps the most interesting number is Lindsay's Jazz Suite for Double Quartet, which features both saxophone and string quartets performing in tandem. Guest artists include Richard Bravo, Lee Levin, Dan Warner, Jim Gasior, Mike Harvey, Chuck Bergeron, and the Bergonzi String Quartet. A must have for all saxophone aficionados, straight ahead jazz lovers, and those who appreciate adventurous configurations.
