CD Reviews
This Is a CD!

"Ms. Maggart is very talented, and her singing is a real joy to listen to. However, this CD runs a puny LP-length 37-38 minutes, and this is unacceptable for a full price CD. Someone needs to remind this no-name record company that we are now (and have been for 25 years) producing CDs rather than LPs, the former having an 80 minute capacity. How difficult would it have been to add another half dozen songs from Mr. Berlin's illustrious body of work? I could think of at least a dozen that would have been perfect for Maude."
Truly wonderous

"This CD will make you fall in love with music all over again. Its like putting on an old 78 from years past, sung by some young chanteuse tucked away in the recesses of a small nightclub in New York City circa 1930. The Irving Berlin songbook is perfect for Ms. Maggarts unique, lilting vocals, she can break your heart with these tunes. If you're at all interested in her, this is the album to start with. My favorite track here is 'Always', but you'll love them all."
Maude Maggart Sings Irving Berlin
Gary R. Rotenberg | Florham Park, NJ, United States | 05/26/2007

"Ms. Maggart sings a worthy collection of Mr. Berlin's songs, with spare and excellent accompaniment. Her rendition of "When I leave the World Behind" evokes the emotion and depth of feeling that Berlin must have felt as he wrote the song - a truly moving version. Much the same can be said of "The Song Is Ended." Her singing style works very well for me, but not all feel this way. You must hear her work for yourself and you will know. It would appear that people either find her remarkable or would prefer not to listen. Regardless, she explores the great works of the American song book, and the sound quality - especially critical for me with my vintage tube electronics and revealing US & UK speakers - remains of the highest order."
A sound from another era

"I heard of the CD by reading about in a publication and got it. Maude has the vocal sound of a byegone era, not a strong or wide-ranging voice but very distinctive. One could almost see her in the background at Sam's in the movie Casa Blanca. It is very pleasant listening, especially in the evening when you are in the mood for something retro-sounding and not demanding on the ear."
