CD Reviews

AN ABSOLUTE KNOCKOUT...!!!

"To call this cd incredible, amazing, beautiful, and profound still does not give it it's full just due. Matt's songwriting is versatile and sophisticated. His songs range from the seductive pulse of 'The Slow Club' to the elegant, tragic beauty of Beotia; from the deep confessions of 'Rivers And Tides' to the emotional heartbreak of 'End Of The World'. His voice is rich, silky and expressive. He plays everything, and the production is lush and sensual (listen to the swirling background vocals in 'Field-Trip Buddy'). Grab this cd as fast as possible and prepare to be profoundly moved!"
Powerful, haunting, and refreshing!

"Wow, what a nice surprize. I was turned on to Mr. Alber's music by a post on a gay blog. I was completely pulled into the music video for "End of the World," and was left with a very heart-felt, sweet feeling. The rest of the album really shines as well, but is admittedly nothing really like the song I previously mentioned. The other songs are a bit more electronic sounding with an easy listening kind-of twist.

If you must have a comparison to go by, I would say that his sound is rather like a Rufus Wainwright and Sarah McLachlan mash-up. Very nice, indeed. Keep up the great work Matt!"
Listen to this album and just TRY to not me moved by it..

"It never fails, everytime I listen to this cd, I'm tearing up by the third track. I first heard of Matt when I tuned into the Logo Channel one sunday morning to find his video for "End of the World" playing. I was left speechless, transfixed and in complete awe of what I had just witnessed. I sat on my couch with chills coursing through my veins. I logged onto iTunes to sample his cd "Hide Nothing" and HAD to have it. I logged onto amazon and found a copy of it and ordered it. The lyrics of almost all of the songs on this cd capture perfectly the way i have felt at different times in my life about relationships and life in general. I think for those of us who have traveled through some pretty messy times in our lives and in particular, romantic relationships, this cd will speak to us all personally. The first three tracks "Monarch," "The Slow Club," and "Fieldtrip Buddy" along with "End of the World" are my favorite tracks. "Fieldtrip Buddy" is my absolute favorite. It's a glistening, swirling, beautiful track about first crushes and romance seen through the eyes of a child. Some reviews I have read equate this track with being creepy and almost pedophile like, that's not the case. The lyrics are representative of being seen through a romantic and tender hearted school boy's eyes. I remember being in grade school and having these crushes, I think we all do. They are sweet, innocent, and untainted. This is what that song conveys. To those of you out there who see it in the more negative connotations such as those that I have read, shame on you.. This is an absolutely gorgeous track. The album in its entirety is absolutely beautiful. It reminds me in some ways of a very toned down version of Madonna's Ray of Light album. It's very electronic in production full of all kinds of little glistening blurps and beeps and chimes to tickle the ear."
