"I always thought that Marilyn was underestimated as a singer and now I am SURE of it. When she was alive, her look and image were so strong that it somewhat overshadowed her other talents (singing, acting) and now we can finally discover what an amazing vocalist she was. I especially love "Bye bye baby", "I'm through with love" and "I wanna be loved by you". I always loved Marilyn as a singer and now can enjoy her beautiful voice with this great package. The sound quality is so good that we can listen to every nuance and subtleties of her melancholic voice. Her vulnerability is very obvious in, probably my favorite track of all "I'm through with love" from her best movie "Some like it hot". I think it was high time a record company made a compilation that good, to showcase Marilyn at her very best vocally. And the picture on the cover ain't bad either!"

"For all the hoopla and attention surrounding Marilyn in her life and especially since her untimely death, not much has been said about her abilities as a vocalist. All of the qualities fans adore in her acting-her sensuality, innocence, vulnerability, and humor-come through in her singing as well. This compilation from her many musicals (as well as rare non-movie related rcordings) showcases her expressive delivery and phrasing. A real treat for Marilyn lovers and music lovers as well!"

""The Essential Recordings" CD is fantastic! I really enjoy listening to classic songs like"Do-It-Again", "Diamonds", "River of No Return","I Wanna Loved by You, and my very favorite "I'm Through with Love". This girl could really put feeling in her singing. This is one of the best CD's as far as sound quality and performance that I have in my Monroe collection to date. I would highly recommend this CD for anyone who enjoys listening to Marilyn, and for their own personal collection."
