"Marie recorded some outstanding pop music in the sixties, a selection of which is to be found on this compilation. Equally brilliant at up-tempo songs and tender ballads, there is plenty of variety in the songs here.
There are covers of international songs here translated into French, such as Viens sur la montagne (Tell it on the mountain - Peter Paul and Mary), Marie Douceuer - Marie Colere (Paint it black - Rolling Stones), Que calor la vida - Callow la vida (Red balloon - Dave Clark Five), La flute magique (El condor pasa - translated into English by Simon and Garfunkel as If I could) and Qu'est-ce qui fait pleurer les filles (What makes little girls cry - Four seasons).
Marie sings all those songs superbly but the real appeal of this collection lies in the many delightful original French songs including Les vendagnes de l'amour, Katy cruelle, Mon amour mon ami, Qu'y a-t-il de change, La bague au dogit, Manchester et Liverpool, Julie Crevecouer and Les noces de campagne and many others.
There are several compilations of Marie's music available in France including double CD's and boxed sets, but this single CD makes a wonderful introduction to her music."
