"This collection is issued by Vocalion, a label who give the impression that they really don't like pop charts. Their track selections are based on what they believe to be the best by the artist in the period covered, regardless of whether it was a hit or not. They love Moonlight in Vermont, but it pre-dates the period covered, so is excluded.Far away places, A tree in the meadow and Baby it's cold outside are all included, along with a few others, but most of the tracks are not available on any other CD's by Maggie. The non-hits provide a range of covers, including St Louis blues and My own true love, all sung beautifully by Magic Maggie. If you haven't got any of Maggie's music and you don't want to pay the price of the Complete Capitol hits double-CD, this will provide you with a nice selection of some of her best music. For those (like me) who have that and the Jerome Kern tribute, this is a most welcome addition to the collection of Maggie's music."
