"Understatement of the decade! Mr. Blanchard has an eclectic mix on his CD! The songs are offered in surprisingly fresh arrangements, sung in a heart felt nuanced manner, and performed in a spirited fashion on his lute. You go from Cole Porter's " Begin the Beguine" and " Night and Day" to Arthur Crudup's"My Baby Left Me". Unforgetable versions of the classic spirituals "Deep River" and "Steal Away" give way to Mr. Blanchard's musing on Steven Foster's " Suzanna's Fancy". Splendid."
