"I am glad to be the first to review this collection; I fervently hope I will be the last -- that no one else will fall prey to this fraud. The producers do not reveal that these are not professional recordings, but are a collection of pirated recordings made with hand-held recorders (occasionally one can hear the device being shuffled from hand to hand) during concerts and other performances. The recording quality is roughly that which we have of Caruso -- without the scratches. It is all we have of Caruso, and so we treasure it. In Pavarotti's case, however, there is no excuse for this disgraceful collection even to exist. The voice clearly is Pavarotti's; even the worst recording technique in the world cannot disguise that magnificent voice that slices through the world like a knife. These recordings, however, are a dishonor to his memory. I will demand my money back. The only reason that I have rated this collection with one star is because Amazon's system will not accept a zero star rating"
