(You think this guy doesn't have the blues? His mother died a week after he was born, and his dad was lynched by the Klan when Red was just 5). However, when he plays with a full band, it's hit or miss, usually because the sound is just too slick. Fortunately for us, about two-thirds of this disk is pure blues magic. Truthfully, that's a far better ratio than most blues studio albums can muster these days."
