"Lou is truly underated. Although there ARE medleys on this live album, I beg to differ that they "suck". I've heard ump-teen versions of Lou's Tabacco Road, but for some reason, this version REALLY cooks more than all the other versions I've heard. But, it's true that since it's in a medley -- it ends too soon. But, to give up hearing and owning this version would truly be stupid. I find myself replaying it over and over again, absolutely AMAZED with Lou's phrasing, and groove and TRUE soul. He was definately HOT this particular night.I would also say "Groovy People" cooks more in this recording than in the studio or other versions I've heard.Lou's "patter" during "When the Sun Goes Down", is again, hotter here than the other versions I've heard. He was REALLY ON in this show, and to resist this recording because of the "medleys" would truly be your loss. It is a classic album that a Lou fan (who understands him) would be lost without."

"I HAD HEARD THE ALBUM MANY YEARS AGO AND REALLY LIKED IT. MY WIFE AND I WENT TO ONE OF HIS CONCERTS AND WE BOTH WANTED TO GET THIS CD. IT'S GREAT. IT REMINDS US OF THE THE CONCERT. WE ENJOY THE SONGS YOU DON'T NORMALLY GET TO HEAR HIM SING PLUS SOME OF THE OLDER STUFF (I'LL BUY ONE OF HIS "BEST OF" TO HEAR ALL OF THE OLDER HITS). MY WIFE AND I VOTE THIS CD A "5"."
It's Really Unmistakably Lou!

"You know, I discovered a man named Lou Rawls back when I was 14. That was in the year 2000 when my other hero, Vice President Al Gore, won the Presidential Election.Sitting on my couch, I heard this artist belt out "You'll never find, as long as you live, someone who loves you, tender like I do..." I was thrilled. Well, I'm now eighteen and I have played that song literally a thousand times. I used to actually wake up and put it on, memorize it, "groove" to it, and really enjoy him. After I saw him sing that song (unfortunately without his backup singers) on the United Negro College Fund Telethon that he started, I searched and play all i could on him. For the record, on his most recent UNCF telethon, he really blew it away with a new set, nice band, and great backup singers. I now love his unique and one of a kind voice, and many of his songs, including "Groovy People" and "Let Me be Good To You"! Go Lou!"
A legendary song stylist and crooner at his "Live" best.

"Considering that Lou Rawls has covered far many more genres (blues, jazz, Philly Soul, MOR-pop) throughout his career than most other artists this 2-CD set can be viewed as a career retrospective from his beginnings as a blues singer in the early 1960s up until 1978. He pays tribute to the great song stylists who influenced him as well as performing medleys of his past hits while also enthralling us with then-recent hits like "Lady Love", "Groovy People", "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" and "See You When I Get There". One of the greatest singers of our time at his best."

"I first heard this "album" when I was an adolescent - I loved it then and I love it now! Lou gives props to the great "song stylists"; he should also be included in that group. He has a great voice and arranges old classics masterfully. What a wonderful performer!"
