"I do think the vocal performances and accompaniment of "A Touch of the Blues" are better than most reviewers rate them. However this BMG Spain reissue of the album is in monophonic sound. The original LP was in stereo. Pass this one up and wait for a stereo reissue. Most of the album was reissued in stereo on the 1991 Bluebird CD "As Time Goes By" that still available on the secondary market fairly reasonably. Get that one instead or else wait for a complete reissue in stereo."
Great Voice - Orchestra A Little Old School

"While this was recorded in the 1950's, the orchestra is still hanging onto the 1940's - so while her voice is earthy and "with a touch of blues," the backing music sounds a bit dated not that there's anything really wrong with it but when others were bringing a more lush sound like Nelson Riddle, the Billy Butterfield Orchestra is sort of leaving her behind the times and in some ways it seems to be inhibiting her she sounds like she has the range to hit all the notes and to express all the emotions, however the backing music is holding her back a little. Still an fine LP/CD but not exactly a lost gem."
