CD Reviews

One of Julio's finest
Robertchica | 02/23/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Julio recorded this album, at the golden age of his career. A Mis 33 Años was a beautiful album in Castillano of Italian songs, while El Amor was also a beautiful album of love balads that included an English version of George Harrison's epic My Sweet Lord.

These two albums were from where the songs of As Vezes Tu,As Vezes Eu originated from, alongside the beautiful epic of the America album; in which the song Jurame from Argentina was done in Portuguese and in the semi Tango version of the original recording, for the song is a Tango. The song Amigo is a Portuguese version of the song Gavilan o Paloma by Raphael Perez Botija who wrote many songs for Enrique. That song is so beautiful and romantic, when in dealing with Jurame and the songs of Siguere Mi Camino and Quiero as well as Donde Estaras in Portuguese they are just as romantic, of which Siguere Mi Camino and Donde Estaras were written by Julio for 33 Años. Sou Um Charlatão, Sou Um Senhor is the Portuguese vesrion of the classic Soy Un Thruan Soy un Señor that Julio also wrote, and with Italian influence, while Quiero was the modern vesrion of an ancient Latin verse, and as for El Amor it was Julio's rendition of a French Ballad and recorded in Portuguese as O Amor.

The title track was a song that was on El Amor but actually recorded back in 1969! I thaught that it was recorded back in 1974 at least, but it was my surprise that this song was so old. It is a beautiful song in any language that he sings. Si Mi Lace No Vale was an Italian song that Julio did in Castillano as Si Me Dejas No Vale on 33 Años, with the recording on that album being Italian in origin while dealing with the Pop musical backround in its choral as well as orchestral movements, but on this album he did it with a fast pace Disco version which must have been fun to dance to. It reminds me of what Duran Duran did on the original recording of My Own Way as a single.

My favorates on this album are Amigo and Se Me Deixas, Nao Vale{ Si Me dejas, No Vale as well as Jurame and O Amor plus the title track. Note that also on this album he does Vem which is a pop version of Charlie Chaplin's composition that is Candelight, that was on El Amor and is as beautiful as all the rest."
