"No one evoked "Sugar Baby" sexuality better than Josephine Baker. The mystique of her french lyrics carries over well in this collection of songs in english. From "What Do I Say (After I Say I'm Sorry)" to "Bye Bye Blackbird", her giddy interpretations deliver classic American lyrics with a sly sensuality unduplicated by any other performer, ex-patriate or otherwise.Anyone who enjoys the naive style of the popular music of her era will certainly enjoy this recording. Be aware that the sound quality is consistent with the original recordings--if you enjoy listening to 78s, you will find the sound to be handsomely nostalgic."
